LiveWell Group traces its origins back to 1984, when law partners Rex Ruthman and Edward Feinberg expanded their legal practice to include brokerage and advisory services for prominent Capital Region builders. Over the ensuing years, they developed several residential and commercial real estate projects, including Adams Station Apartments in Delmar, NY. Following an active period of acquisitions and dispositions, the duo recognized they needed an integrated approach to manage their growing portfolio and in 1992 they founded the property management firm which continues today.

Building upon their success in multifamily development and management, the partners subsequently developed the Spinney brand of active-adult communities, culminating in the development of The Spinney at Pond View and The Spinney at Van Dyke. During the same period, the organization acquired Wood Hill Apartments and more than 60,000 square feet of commercial office space. With the addition of these assets to its portfolio, the property management firm was branded as The Spinney Group in 2007.

In the decade that followed, the company welcomed a second generation of family leadership that spearheaded capacity building efforts in each of its business units. With a growing and robust team of professionals, the organization now encompasses a platform of brokerage, construction, and management services, and is active in development of residential and renewable energy projects. To capture the organization’s new emphasis on sustainability, lifestyle, and wellness, along with integration of its development, construction, and management activities, the organization was rebranded as LiveWell Group in 2023.
